Emily E. Eagan

Emily E. Eagan was born and raised in New Orleans. Emily attended Davidson College, where she received a BA in Political Science. She earned her law degree from Tulane University School of Law in 2004 where she graduated magna cum laude. Emily joined Laborde Siegel, LLC, in 2009 as an Associate and became a Member in 2015.

Emily practices primarily in the areas of premises liability, products liability, transportation, and insurance defense. Emily represents a broad range of clients, including product manufacturers, apartment complexes, hotels, restaurants, bars, trucking companies, and waste management companies. She has more than 20 years of experience representing these clients in various contexts, including personal injury litigation and commercial disputes. Emily has enjoyed success on both the state and federal levels in motion practice as well as at trial.

Emily is a member of the Tulane Alumni Association Board of Directors, Louisiana State Bar Association, and DRI.

ALL CLAIMS AGAINST UTILITY DISMISSED ON SUMMARY JUDGMENT
Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
All claims made against the Firm’s client, a local energy utility, for a catastrophic workplace injury were dismissed on summary judgment by successfully arguing the application of the doctrine of “statutory employer.”

FAVORABLE OUTCOME FOR PUBLIC ENTITY IN CLAIMS FOR WRONGFUL DEATH AND SURVIVAL ACTION
Lafayette Parish, Louisiana
The Firm defended a local school board for claims brought by the parents of a 6 year-old student who was killed while exiting a school bus. The mother’s claims were settled prior to trial and the father’s claims were tried and appealed to the Louisiana Supreme Court. Ultimately, the nominal judgment was reduced by successful coverage and legal arguments.

FAVORABLE VERDICT IN TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY CLAIM
East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana
A 23 year-old Plaintiff asked a jury for $50 million in damages in a rear end trucking accident. The Firm successfully moved for partial directed verdict on Plaintiff’s claim for future medical care and also challenged other elements on Plaintiff’s life care plan resulting in an award of $1.8 million in future medical expenses.

LIMITED VERDICT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY SUIT
Lafayette Parish, Louisiana
The Firm represented an insured trucking company for an accident which occurred in heavy fog in the early morning hours involving an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle. As a result of the accident, Plaintiff was paralyzed and had a myriad of other medical issues. After assuming the role of lead counsel, the Firm successfully limited Plaintiff’s recovery to 30% less than asked for in his closing argument.
